About Us - Team

Patrick O'Connell - Pharmacist Manager

Kia Ora I’m Patrick your friendly community pharmacist here at Owhata Medical Centre Pharmacy.

I’ve have been a pharmacist now for 10 years and studied at the University of Otago for 4 years, I completed my pharmacist training in Island Bay Wellington. I have worked in a number of pharmacies over the years in Wellington, Te Puke and Rotorua.

In my spare time I enjoy home baking, I’ve perfected the cheese scone and make a wicked brownie! I also enjoy travel here at home (Coromandel being a favourite) and overseas. Having done my O’E in 2015 where I spent time in USA and Central America. I’d like to think my Spanish is pretty good but in reality, it’s terrible!

I really enjoy being a Pharmacist, every day is different. I like meeting and getting to know the regular patients and being a useful part of the Community

I think the biggest misconception about being a pharmacist is that we just give out medications, but I think pharmacists most valuable skill is to communicate information. Information about medications, vaccines, health conditions and how to navigate the New Zealand health system!

Ko Jessie toku ingoa.

Kia ora my name is Jessie and I am currently training as the Dispensary Technician at Owhata Medical Centre Pharmacy.  I have worked in Pharmacy for nearly 8 years and only recently made the change to study as a technician.  Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and playing basketball. I live by Lake Rotoiti and love going out for walks and enjoy the scenery of what Rotorua has to offer.

Working at the Pharmacy, you get to meet a lot of different people and I enjoy getting to know our customers and offering help and giving friendly advice.
